Couple Wins $2.7 Million Lottery After Last-Minute Ticket Purchase

A couple in their 40s has won the first prize of 10 million shekels (approximately $2.7 million) in the Israeli lottery, a win that almost didn't happen. One of the partners initially went to buy a ticket on a Monday, but found the lottery stand already closed. A strong gut feeling prompted her to return the following day, Tuesday, September 1, to purchase the ticket just before the draw.

The winning ticket combined personal numbers significant to the couple with numbers randomly selected by the lottery terminal. The morning after the draw, one of the winners checked the numbers via the Mifal HaPayis (national lottery) app and was stunned to discover they had won the jackpot. She immediately called her partner, exclaiming, "We won 10 million shekels, I'm trembling, I can't even drive."

After verifying the ticket together, they drove directly to the lottery's offices. The couple, who had undergone years of fertility treatments to have children, stated the winnings would provide financial security for their family and allow them to pursue their long-held dream of owning a private home in a pastoral setting for their retirement.
