Israel Police’s Lahav 433 national fraud investigations unit has completed an investigation into former Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and senior officials from his ministry on suspicion of breach of trust. The probe was opened in January 2024 with the attorney general’s approval.
According to the police, the case centered on suspicions that diplomatic passports were issued to various people for improper, non-professional considerations. During the investigation, dozens of people were questioned and numerous documents were seized.
Lahav 433 chief Commander Meni Benjamin has already handed the case summary to the head of the investigations and intelligence division. That official instructed that the file be transferred to the State Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether to move forward with the case.
