Police Finish Probing Minister Eli Cohen in Diplomatic Passport Case
Israel Police completed its investigation on Monday into Energy Minister Eli Cohen in the diplomatic passport affair and forwarded the file to the State Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors will now decide whether the evidence is sufficient to file an indictment.
According to police sources, the case contains evidence suggesting Cohen committed offenses. He is suspected of helping associates obtain passports in violation of official procedures.
Investigators said, however, that the case is not legally straightforward, indicating that the evidence may not lead automatically to charges. The matter is now in the hands of prosecutors, who must determine the next step.
