IDF Launches Surprise Drill to Test Multi-Front War Readiness

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commenced a surprise, large-scale military exercise early Sunday morning to assess its readiness for a multi-front conflict scenario. The drill, codenamed "Dawn's Light 2.0," involves the mobilization of commanders and forces across all regional commands, branches, and directorates.

The exercise, ordered by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, aims to evaluate the preparedness of the General Staff and main commands, their reserve capabilities, and their ability to respond to a sudden, complex, and extensive multi-front event. This initiative is part of an ongoing IDF effort to strengthen its foundations, the fitness, and the readiness of all combatant and command levels.

During the drill, decision-making processes and the activation of reserves are being tested. The IDF has alerted the public that increased movement of security forces and aircraft will be noticeable throughout the country, but stressed that there is no cause for concern regarding an actual security incident.

The exercise also incorporates lessons learned from recent combat operations and the events of October 7th, with regular and reserve officers from the IDF's Inspector General's unit conducting inspections of units and commands to verify their operational fitness and readiness. This drill is part of the Operations Directorate's planned exercises for 2026 and is intended to bolster defenses ahead of the upcoming holiday period.
