Young Girl Suffers Severe Injuries After Heavy Door Amputates Fingers

A five-year-old girl sustained severe injuries at her home in Bnei Brak, Israel, after a heavy door slammed shut on her hand, resulting in the amputation of her fingers. Emergency medical responders from United Hatzalah provided immediate life-saving treatment, including preserving the severed finger parts in a special ice pack, before urgently transporting her to Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer.

The incident occurred in the family's home when the heavy door closed forcefully on the child's hand. The impact and weight of the door caused the partial amputation of her fingers, witnessed by her distraught family who called for help. Responders Moti Sloboditsky and Shlomo Katz stabilized the bleeding and began the critical process of preserving the amputated parts, a step crucial for maintaining tissue viability and increasing the chances of successful reattachment surgery.

Following initial treatment at the scene, the girl was rushed to the hospital. Upon arrival at the trauma room, she was immediately taken into surgery by a team of specialists aiming to reattach her fingers.
