Shadi Shuwayri Withdraws from Knesset List Race

Shadi Shuwayri, a candidate for the Hadash party, announced on Saturday his withdrawal from the competition for the second seat on the party's list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Shuwayri had initially run for a seat on the "Jaffa" (Hadash) national council on May 16, 2026, aiming to represent the party in parliament. Although he came in second to Jaafar Farah by a narrow margin, Shuwayri stated he immediately supported the party's chosen candidates.

When Farah withdrew his candidacy, Shuwayri believed he was the rightful successor due to his second-place finish and securing approximately 49% of the votes. However, he cited "trivial and baseless accusations" against him regarding Farah's withdrawal as a reason for his decision. Shuwayri stated his withdrawal is intended to contribute to the unity of the party and the joint list, prioritizing the interests of the public over individual ambitions.

Shuwayri pledged his full support to whomever is chosen to fill the second seat and to the entire joint list. He called for unity to overcome the recent "crisis," increase voter turnout, and achieve a significant victory for the joint list.
