Toddler Critically Injured After Being Struck by Car in Jerusalem
A one-year-old child sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in the courtyard of his home in Jerusalem on Friday evening, September 4. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle was reversing in a parking area near the residence when it struck the toddler.
The child suffered a severe head injury and was transported to Hadassah Har HaTzofim Hospital. The Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service reported receiving a call at 6:04 PM regarding a child brought to a local clinic on Moshe Dayan Avenue after a suspected traffic accident.
MDA paramedics and EMTs arrived at the scene, provided initial medical treatment, and continued resuscitation efforts en route to the hospital. Paramedics Tzvi Horowitz and Boaz Elbaz described the scene as "horrifying," noting the child was unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing upon their arrival. They were informed of the suspected traffic accident and continued advanced medical care in the MDA intensive care ambulance, rushing the child to the hospital's trauma unit.
The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause of the vehicle striking the child.
