Gantz's Blue and White Party Will Not Run with Likud's Erdan
The Blue and White party, led by Knesset member Benny Gantz, announced Friday afternoon that it will not run in the upcoming 26th Knesset elections on a joint list with the Likud party, headed by former Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan.
The announcement came after a meeting between Gantz and Erdan on Friday, following days of negotiations between the two parties. Reports had circulated in recent days about disagreements between Erdan and Gantz regarding leadership of the potential joint list.
Both Blue and White and Likud have been polling below the electoral threshold required to enter the Knesset. This electoral vulnerability prompted the negotiations for a potential alliance to ensure both parties' representation.
