Right-Wing Activist Indicted for Violating Administrative Restraint Order

An indictment was filed against right-wing activist Tal Yinon Dardik for violating an administrative restraint order issued by Central Command chief Major General Avi Bluth. The order required Dardik to report to the police station in Modi'in Illit twice daily. The police are also seeking to detain him until the proceedings conclude.

Dardik, who was previously an administrative detainee, allegedly failed to report to the police station for several consecutive days after his release. He claimed his physical condition was poor due to a hunger strike during his detention, preventing him from complying with the order. However, he reportedly visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem last month and prayed there.

Police stated that the violation of the order poses a significant security risk during a sensitive period, potentially leading to unrest and endangering public safety. They also claimed they attempted to locate Dardik six times since the order was issued before he finally appeared at the station.

Last month, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ordered Dardik's unconditional release, overturning the administrative order. The judge criticized the conduct of the Jerusalem District Police during the proceedings. Dardik had been on a hunger strike in protest of the administrative order.
