Oren Hasson has been dismissed as CEO of the Israeli basketball club Hapoel Tel Aviv, with team chairman Stav Shaham assuming the role. Hasson was reportedly fired on Thursday after a period of significant disagreements within the club's management.
Just a day before his dismissal, Hasson was in Sofia with the team, even attending a dinner with coach Dimitris Itoudis. However, he was summoned to Shaham's office on Thursday and informed of his termination.
Hasson's associates claim his dismissal was not based on professional merit and was not in the best interest of Hapoel Tel Aviv. They suggest that the decision-makers were not prioritizing the club's welfare.
Sources indicate that Hasson's departure is linked to a power shift in the club's management, with Gili Ra'anan reportedly taking a more prominent role in managing the team, succeeding Ofer Yanai.
