Israeli Police Arrest 10 in Nazareth Amid Crime Wave, Seize Weapons

Israeli police and Border Police forces intensified their presence in the city of Nazareth on Friday following a surge in shooting incidents and violence attributed to criminal gangs. During a nighttime operation, authorities announced the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of weapons and combat equipment.

Over the past two days, dozens of officers conducted targeted operations against individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities across various gang-affiliated locations within the city. Some suspects attempted to flee on foot during the raids but were apprehended after pursuits.

The seized items included a hand grenade and a pistol, which police stated were prevented from being used in inter-gang conflicts. This operation follows a previous raid that led to the arrest of over 20 suspects, including the brother of a murder victim. Their detention has been extended until August 6, 2026.

Police reported an increased operational tempo in Nazareth over the past year, resulting in the imprisonment of leaders from a known local criminal organization. The force pledged to continue its efforts against criminal gangs and pursue suspects to ensure public safety and bring offenders to justice. The crackdown comes after four people were killed in Nazareth within a 24-hour period, including a young man in a shooting incident.
