Motorcyclist Dies in Solo Crash Near Soreq Interchange

A 48-year-old motorcyclist died overnight between Thursday and Friday in a solo accident on Highway 7 near the Soreq Interchange. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. "We were led to the motorcyclist who was lying on the road unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing after being injured during the ride," said MDA paramedic Gal Ganish and senior medic Meir Avivi. "We performed medical checks but unfortunately, his injuries were significant, and we had to pronounce him dead at the scene."

This incident occurs as Israel's road fatality count for the year has surpassed 300 people. The past month of August was the deadliest this year and the worst August in 22 years, with 44 fatalities. Analysis by the "Or Yarok" association, based on Central Bureau of Statistics and National Road Safety Authority data, indicates that Summer 2026 was the deadliest on the roads in two decades, with 122 deaths, a 4.2% increase from Summer 2025. This marks the fourth consecutive year of rising summer road deaths. The summer was also the worst in the last decade for child fatalities (ages 0-14), with 12 children killed, compared to eight the previous summer.
