IKEA Prices in Israel Significantly Higher Than in Europe, Jordan

Israeli consumers are paying considerably more for IKEA products compared to shoppers in Europe and even neighboring Jordan, with prices sometimes tens of percent higher. In some instances, sale items in Israel are more expensive than non-discounted items abroad. This price disparity has become particularly noticeable following IKEA's recent announcement of a 1.2 billion euro investment to lower prices across several European countries, offering discounts up to 28% on popular items like the Billy bookcase and Kallax storage system. This European initiative was a response to declining incomes and consumer confidence due to the rising cost of living, with IKEA consciously reducing its own profitability through supply chain and packaging optimization.

IKEA Israel, however, stated that the European price reduction is a localized initiative and not a global campaign. The company attributes the higher prices in Israel to traditional factors such as elevated transportation costs, complex local logistics, and specific operational challenges. Despite these explanations, Israeli shoppers continue to face significantly higher price tags, especially amid the current economic crisis, while consumers in other regions benefit from substantial price reductions.
