Democratim Party to Sue for Security for Leader Yair Golan Amid Threats
The Democratim party announced its intention to file a petition with the Supreme Court of Justice against the decision not to provide security for its leader, Yair Golan, citing recent threats against him. The party released a video featuring clips of Israeli right-wing figures criticizing Golan, including Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Knesset Member Tally Gottlieb. The video also shows a hand firing a pistol.
Omer Lupton Granot, the party's Director-General, had previously appealed to the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Sohlberg, requesting instructions for the head of the Shin Bet security agency to provide security for Golan. This follows the police raising the threat level against Golan to level 4.
