Yair Golan to Appeal to Supreme Court Over Security Denial
Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic party, announced he will petition Israel's Supreme Court against the decision by the advisory committee on personal security not to grant him Shin Bet security.
The decision comes after a video was released by the party containing severe threats against Golan, including imagery of a hand holding a pistol and firing. Golan stated in a recent interview that the police assess the threats against him and Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael! party, as identical.
"We are warning of the next political assassination and intend to petition the Supreme Court over the abandonment of Major General (Res.) Yair Golan's security," the Democratic party said in a statement. The party is concerned about Golan's safety and believes the decision to deny him security is a dereliction of duty.
