Caught in the act: 10 illegal residents hidden in a car in Lod | Watch the arrest moments

C14 Desk, about an hour ago

A Kiryat Gat resident was caught transporting ten illegal residents in his car and was taken into custody. The illegal residents were found concealed in the vehicle’s trunk. The driver aroused the suspicion of the forces, and when asked to stop, he claimed he had just returned from visiting the graves of righteous figures in northern Israel, but after a search of the car, the illegal residents were discovered and were also transferred for questioning and further handling.

Border Police Central fighters and Central District police arrested a suspect overnight, between Tuesday and Wednesday, a resident of Kiryat Gat, who was driving with ten illegal residents in his vehicle in the Lod area. The incident took place during routine operational activity, when the fighters spotted a vehicle that aroused their suspicion.

After the vehicle was stopped for inspection, the driver told the forces that he had returned from visiting the graves of righteous figures in northern Israel. However, during a thorough search, ten illegal residents were found hidden and concealed in the vehicle’s trunk. The suspect, 39, a resident of Kiryat Gat, was arrested at the scene and transferred for further questioning at the Lod police station of the Israel Police. The illegal residents were also transferred for additional police treatment and questioning, in order to bring all those involved to justice.

This is not an isolated case but a dangerous and ongoing phenomenon. Police warn that it has significant security implications and also includes the employment and housing of illegal residents by civilians and business owners, which deepens the problem and endangers public safety. Just yesterday, security forces spotted a shuttle vehicle near Mitzpe Modi'in that aroused suspicion, and an inspection found 17 illegal residents inside it. All of the suspects were arrested, and the shuttle driver was questioned on suspicion of transporting them.
