An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured on Tuesday after falling several floors in a stairwell in Holon. Magen David Adom responders arrived at the building, gave her initial treatment, and evacuated her to the hospital with multisystem trauma.
According to MDA paramedics Shalom Ben David, along with senior medics Matan Mizrahi and Yosef Arnebiov, they were told that a child had fallen from a height of several floors inside a stairwell. When they reached the scene, they found her on the lower floor, confused and suffering a significant multisystem injury. They said her condition was serious but stable when she was taken to the trauma room.
The medics also treated a woman at the scene who suffered an acute anxiety reaction because of the incident, and she was also taken to the hospital. Ben David said the team provided first aid and calmed her before evacuation.
The report notes that this was not the only recent stairwell fall in Israel. About a week earlier, a toddler about two and a half years old was brought unconscious to MDA near Bartaa after falling down stairs and sustaining injuries. Paramedics carried out prolonged resuscitation and evacuated him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in critical condition, but he later died. Police opened an investigation into that case.
