Beitar Jerusalem is set to face Hapoel Tel Aviv on Thursday in a rescheduled Israeli Premier League match, aiming to secure their first points of the season after a significant 4-1 loss to Maccabi Netanya. Coach Almog Cohen is reportedly planning changes in the midfield, with Ziv Ben Shimol expected to start as a defensive midfielder, replacing Tomer Yosefi. Boris Enow is also expected to play in a more advanced role.
The coaching staff is still deliberating on the forward line composition. Following the defeat to Netanya, analysis indicated that Nabo Shadu lacked support in marking Oz Bilu. To address this, Sagi Touri'al, who plays a similar style to Bilu, is expected to receive more defensive assistance in the upcoming game.
Despite the recent loss, the club is projecting optimism and is not overly concerned about the team's performance against Netanya. "We need to restore honor to the fans and ourselves," stated club officials. The team is preparing to stay at a hotel before the match.
Due to injuries to key defenders Nana Antwi and Yarden Cohen, Almog Cohen considered a three-defender formation but is likely to stick with the current setup. Gil Cohen is also injured, and Jonabesko Calou is ill, ruling them out of the squad.
In transfer news, Beitar Jerusalem is actively pursuing Alexis Serrano. The club anticipates that Raviv Aberjil will be loaned out, and Yan Shikot is expected to be sent to the National League before the transfer window closes.
