Health Ministry Rules Out Ebola Scare in Traveler Returning From Congo
Israel's Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that tests for Ebola on a young man hospitalized after returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo have come back negative. The patient was admitted following professional protocols and international guidelines for high-risk infectious diseases.
Officials emphasized that there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Israel. The ministry reiterated that Ebola is not airborne and is transmitted through direct contact with an infected person exhibiting symptoms, or through blood, bodily fluids, or secretions.
The Ministry of Health is monitoring the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is maintaining systemic preparedness for all possible scenarios. The public is advised to avoid non-essential travel to areas with active Ebola outbreaks.
Travelers returning from affected regions who develop a fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days of their return are urged to stay home, avoid contact with others, and call the Health Ministry's hotline at *5400.
