Teva Pharmaceuticals Reports Positive Trial Results for Celiac Disease Drug
Israeli pharmaceutical giant Teva announced successful trial results for its experimental celiac disease treatment, tev-408. The company stated that the drug significantly reduced intestinal damage in patients exposed to gluten during the study. The trial involved 50 adult celiac patients. Tev-408 functions as an antibody that targets and blocks the IL-15 protein, which is implicated in inflammatory and immune responses. Teva is also investigating the drug's potential for treating vitiligo. Israeli public broadcaster Kan Bet noted that there is currently no approved drug treatment for celiac disease, with a gluten-free diet remaining the primary management strategy. Following the announcement of the trial results, Teva's stock price increased by nearly 2%.
