Cyber Firm Upwind Security Raises $300 Million at $3.8 Billion Valuation
Cybersecurity company Upwind Security has secured approximately $300 million in a new funding round, valuing the company at around $3.8 billion, according to Bloomberg. This latest funding round marks a significant surge for the company, which had previously raised $250 million in a Series B round at a $1.5 billion valuation earlier this year. In just a few months, Upwind has more than doubled its valuation.
The funding rounds were led by Bessemer Venture Partners and TCV. Other prominent investors participating in these rounds include Craft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, Greylock, Gili Raanan's Cyberstarts, Leaders Fund, and Alta Park Capital. Notably, NBA star Steph Curry's Penny Jar Capital is also among the company's investors.
Upwind Security was founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar, who also serves as CEO, along with his partners from the Spot.io solution, which was previously acquired by storage giant NetApp for $450 million.
The company's technology focuses on real-time threat analysis within cloud environments, moving beyond traditional static, post-event scans. This approach allows large companies to drastically reduce false alarm rates in their systems. The newly raised capital will be used to rapidly expand Upwind's global sales and development operations and to solidify its position as a leading security player in the AI era.
