Jerusalem Police Assign New Team to Unsolved Anastasia Orlov Murder Case

More than 18 months after Anastasia Orlov was found dead in her Jerusalem apartment, police have taken the unusual step of assigning a new investigative team to re-examine the case. The Jerusalem District's Central Investigations Unit requested the move to bring fresh eyes to the evidence and testimonies collected in the hope of uncovering new leads.

Orlov, 38, a mother of one, was discovered deceased in her Kiryat Yovel neighborhood apartment in January 2025. The investigation, initially handled by the Morya station, was quickly transferred to the Central Investigations Unit as murder indicators emerged. The case is considered highly complex due to sensitive, undisclosed findings.

Despite extensive efforts, including over 100 interviews, international cooperation, advanced tools, and 16 gag orders, no suspect has been apprehended. Police have prioritized the case, with Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Absalom Peled holding regular status reviews on unsolved murders, including Orlov's.

Orlov's family, represented by attorney Nava Zerenger, is demanding justice. Zerenger confirmed that pathological findings definitively ruled the death a murder and expressed frustration over the lack of arrests after 19 months. She recently wrote to the Police Commissioner requesting a personal review of the investigation's handling.
