First Special Education High School Opens in Samaria Region

The Samaria Regional Council has inaugurated the first post-elementary school for special education in the town of Revava. This new institution, part of a growing high school framework operated by the council and the Tomchin network, is designed to serve students from across the council and neighboring authorities who face behavioral and emotional challenges. The school features small classes of up to eight students to ensure personalized attention and tailored support.

The curriculum includes vocational training in areas such as dog handling, carpentry, agriculture, and culinary arts, alongside volunteer work and community service. A unique "Leap Upward" program integrates emotional development, sports, and combat fitness, with a dedicated challenge course for students to work on personal goals. This opening builds on the council's expansion of special education services over the past five years, which includes communication classes from first to ninth grade and 17 special education kindergartens, five of which are specialized communication kindergartens.

Council head Yossi Dagan emphasized the importance of providing local special education services, stating, "The establishment of this school is great news for families in Samaria. For years, we have been working to ensure that a child needing a unique framework does not have to seek solutions far from home." He added that the council is investing NIS 50 million over five years in educational infrastructure as part of a five-year plan to enhance special education offerings.

The school is managed by Hadass Bar, with staff provided by the Tomchin network. Other speakers at the inauguration included Rabbi Yoni Samuel, chairman of the Religious Education Administration (HAMAD), and Gadi Malovitzky, CEO of the Tomchin network, who both praised the initiative and the collaborative effort involved.
