Maccabi Netanya Pursues South African Winger and Honduran Midfielder

Israeli football club Maccabi Netanya has submitted an offer for South African winger Luther Singh, currently playing for AEK Limassol in Cyprus. Singh, 29, who has 13 caps and three goals for the South African national team, primarily plays on the left wing but can also operate on the right. His market value is estimated at €850,000, and he has scored 11 goals and provided 22 assists in 65 appearances for Limassol since 2024. He previously played in Europe, including a brief stint with Copenhagen.

In parallel, Maccabi Netanya has also approached Honduran midfielder David Ruiz, 22, who plays for Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi. Ruiz, under contract until 2028, is not a regular starter but has three years of experience in Major League Soccer, having also played with other Barcelona alumni like Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez.

The club is also still working to finalize the loan of Brazilian defender Sydney Lima from Portuguese side Santa Clara. Negotiations are being handled by Max De Giglio, a partner of Ross Klastin, who has taken a more active role in recruitment discussions since Gil Lev was sidelined. Netanya is reportedly resistant to a purchase option of around $500,000 for Lima, despite the player expected to arrive on a free loan. Partizan Belgrade has also expressed interest in Lima.

Meanwhile, Maccabi Netanya is looking to move on William Cyprien, who has reportedly rejected an offer to terminate his contract early in exchange for three months' salary. His agent claims he has an offer from France. Cyprien is not considered part of the club's future plans, and his wife has traveled to France for childbirth, leaving him in Israel.

In other team news, defender Asam Zaroura is sidelined for approximately ten days with a groin tear. Itai Ben Shabbat is seeking a new team. Coach Roni Levy will have to manage with the current squad for the upcoming match against Hapoel Haifa, his former club, until a new defender is acquired.
