Maccabi Netanya Signs Nigerian Winger Christian Nwazuko Ahead of 2026/27 Season

Maccabi Netanya has secured an agreement with 20-year-old Nigerian winger Christian Nwazuko, marking another promising addition to the team ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club, known as the Diamonds, had already started the season positively with the signing of Dolev Haziza and a Toto Cup victory over Hapoel Jerusalem. The final signing is pending Nwazuko obtaining his visa, which the club hopes will not delay his arrival in Israel.

Nwazuko, represented by agent Stav Hachmon, was purchased by English club Sheffield United for 1.2 million euros and recently returned from a loan spell. His contract runs through the 2026/27 season. Known for his speed and technical skills, he has also scored in the Europa League qualifiers. This signing aligns with owner Ross Kastin's strategy of acquiring young talent with high potential resale value.

Coach Roni Levy plans to make several lineup changes for the upcoming Toto Cup match against Maccabi Petah Tikva on Wednesday, aiming to rest players after an intense training camp. Willian Spiryian, who did not play in the recent win over Hapoel Jerusalem, is expected to get playing time.
