Lyte Raises Up to $165 Million for AI Robotics Tech
American company Lyte has officially emerged from stealth mode, announcing a significant funding round of up to $165 million. The investment comprises $107 million in direct equity, supplemented by credit and financing facilities. Lyte is developing technology for physical robotics and artificial intelligence systems.
Key investors include Israeli entrepreneur and investor Avigdor Willenz, who is designated as the founding investor and chairman of the company. Other prominent international funds participating in the round are Fidelity Management & Research Company, Atreides Management, Exor Ventures, Key1 Capital, and Venture Tech Alliance.
The company boasts an experienced management team with backgrounds from leading global tech firms. CEO and co-founder Alexander Shpunt previously co-founded PrimeSense, the Israeli company behind the 3D sensors for Microsoft's Kinect, which later formed the technological basis for Apple's Face ID after its acquisition. CTO Dr. Armen Hadjadj, who led sensor architecture and innovation groups at Apple, and Chief Systems Officer Yuval Gershon, a former senior systems architect at Apple and PrimeSense alumnus, are also part of the founding team.
Avigdor Willenz stated, "Lyte is building at the right layer, at the right time. I have seen how infrastructure technologies open up entire industries. What stood out here is the depth of the team and the discipline to solve the problem of spatial perception as a complete and full system where long-term value is created."
Lyte aims to address a major bottleneck in robotics: the complex integration of various sensors like cameras, lidar, and radar, which require cumbersome calibration and heavy data processing. Their platform, LyteVision, combines dedicated silicon chips, 4D sensors, high-resolution RGB vision, and motion-aware systems into a unified hardware unit that feeds data directly into AI models. This integrated solution is designed to enable autonomous machines to operate safely in complex environments.
The newly raised capital will be allocated to expanding production capacity, growing development teams, and accelerating commercial market penetration in areas such as mobile robots, humanoid robots, industrial automation, and automotive systems.
