Israel's Cyber Unit Warns of Social Media Scam Offering Fake Tickets
Israel's National Cyber Directorate has issued a warning about a new phishing scam circulating on Facebook and Instagram. The fraudulent posts, often impersonating well-known companies, advertise free tickets or discounts for concerts and cultural events. Victims who provide their personal information and phone number are then contacted by scammers.
These scammers request a confirmation code sent via SMS, which they then use to gain control of the victim's mobile number. The Cyber Directorate urges the public never to share confirmation codes with anyone, even if they claim to be from a legitimate company. They also advise users to carefully read SMS messages before entering or sharing any codes.
If a mobile phone suddenly loses network connection after sharing a code, individuals should immediately contact their cellular provider, according to the warning.
