Israel's LORA Missile Successfully Tested by German Navy
Israel's LORA ballistic missile underwent a successful test launch from a German Navy vessel in Germany on the night of September 2nd. Representatives from the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) were present during the demonstration, which proceeded according to plan. Military analyst Amir Bohbot of Walla reported on the event.
Israeli defense officials are reportedly hopeful that the successful demonstration and positive reception from the German Ministry of Defense could lead to a significant contract for the LORA system. Details regarding the potential cost and quantity of missiles are not yet available.
The LORA (Long Range Artillery) missile, developed by IAI's missile and space division, is designed for long-range strategic targets. It can be deployed from both land and sea platforms. According to IAI, the missile boasts an accuracy of approximately 10 meters and can strike a pre-determined target within ten minutes of launch authorization. Its previously stated range is up to 400 kilometers.
IAI has previously tested the LORA from naval platforms in 2017 and 2020. However, this latest test is notable as it involved a German Navy ship, serving as a direct showcase to a major potential customer.
