German Navy Successfully Tests Israeli LORA Ballistic Missile From Warship

The German Navy has successfully conducted a dual operational test of the LORA ballistic missile system, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The tests, announced by the Israeli defense group on Wednesday, were carried out from an operational German warship as part of the OPEX experimentation program. A command post and launcher were installed on board the vessel for the trials.

According to IAI, the missile accurately followed its trajectory, navigated to its target, and struck it with high precision in both tested scenarios, fulfilling all set objectives. These trials are part of the German Navy's "Marine 2035 and Beyond" strategy, aimed at rapidly evaluating new technologies and concepts in realistic operational conditions.

IAI Chairman Boaz Levy hailed the test as an "unprecedented achievement" for the company and the Israeli Ministry of Defense, noting the symbolic significance of conducting the test in Germany, the birthplace of the world's first ballistic missile. He stated that the successful launch from a ship, hitting its target with exemplary precision, highlights Israeli technological capabilities and strengthens strategic cooperation between Israel and Germany.

Levy also linked this test to the upcoming deployment of the Arrow 3 missile defense system in Germany, suggesting both systems enhance the country's defense and deterrence capabilities. IAI CEO Guy Bar Lev described the LORA as "one of the most advanced and operationally proven ballistic missile systems in the world," emphasizing its capability for deep, precision strikes in complex environments. The naval version of the LORA is designed for sea-to-land and sea-to-sea strikes and includes the missile, a dedicated naval launcher, and command and control equipment.
