Russia Aids Iran in Ballistic Missile Development, Israel Tests Own Advanced Weapon

The wars in Iran and Ukraine have fueled a global arms race in ballistic and hypersonic missiles, with a concerning report from the Financial Times revealing that Russia has assisted Iran in developing a new ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Since 2023, Russia and Iran have allegedly been collaborating on a secret program codenamed C430L, aimed at developing hypersonic missile engines for Iran. These missiles can travel at speeds many times the speed of sound, even at low altitudes, making them extremely difficult to defend against. Western nations fear Iran could use such technology to strike not only stationary targets but also naval vessels, including aircraft carriers. While there is no evidence Iran has developed a nuclear warhead, the potential for such a weapon is a significant concern.

In parallel, Israel is also advancing its missile capabilities. The German Navy successfully launched two Israeli "LORA" (Long Range Attack) ballistic missiles in the North Atlantic Ocean. The LORA missile is designed to strike targets at ranges of 500 kilometers or more. Amidst ongoing provocations by Russia against NATO countries, including Germany, Berlin is reportedly considering acquiring the LORA missile as a defensive measure against Russia, following its earlier acquisition of the Arrow 3 missile defense system.
