New Residence Opens for Young Adults with Special Needs in Bnei Brak

A new residence for young adults with high-functioning special needs, named "Beit HaDassim," was inaugurated yesterday in Bnei Brak as part of the "Ohel Sarah" organization's housing program. The apartment, located in a new building on Ha'Etzel Street, has been specifically adapted to the needs of its residents, serving as their home year-round. "Beit HaDassim" joins dozens of similar apartments operated by Ohel Sarah throughout Bnei Brak, offering residents a holistic support system including guidance and leisure activities aimed at fostering their development and potential.

Rabbi Avraham Yosef, the chief rabbi of Holon, attended the inauguration ceremony at the request of the residents. He affixed a mezuzah and delivered remarks to the residents, their families, and the staff. Rabbi Yosef emphasized the importance of Ohel Sarah's work, particularly its housing program, in providing a supportive and tailored home environment. He noted the significant investment in making the apartment aesthetically pleasing and spiritually enriching, stating, "A beautiful apartment expands a person's mind, and here the great investment is evident in making the apartment beautiful both physically and in its content and spirit, for the benefit of the residents' advancement." He added, "How much reward awaits you in heaven. This is true self-sacrifice for the benefit of others and for the integration of these young men into social life."

Malka Weinberg, director of Ohel Sarah, stated that opening another home is more than just moving into a new apartment. "It is a home where the residents live throughout the year, develop, strengthen, and build their lives," she said. She thanked Rabbi Yosef for attending and expressed hope that the new year would bring more moments of growth, joy, and success for the residents.
