Congolese President Visits Israel to Bolster Strategic Ties

President Isaac Herzog hosted the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, at the President's Residence in Jerusalem on his second visit to Israel. The diplomatic trip aims to strengthen strategic and economic relations and refresh cooperation in civilian and technological fields.

President Tshisekedi was welcomed with an official ceremony and a senior delegation. The two leaders held a political working meeting, made press statements, and attended a formal dinner with the foreign ministers and delegations from both countries.

President Herzog emphasized the importance of bilateral relations and mutual support on the international stage, highlighting Israel's commitment to deepening ties with Africa and assisting with developmental and humanitarian challenges. He noted the shared values rooted in the Bible and a vision for progress and doing good among nations, offering Israeli support for Congo's humanitarian needs.

President Tshisekedi expressed his country's desire to deepen practical partnerships with Israel in key areas including agriculture, food security, water, health, technology, innovation, and investment. He stressed a commitment to achieving tangible results beneficial to both nations.

Tshisekedi stated that the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Israel have long-standing ties they aim to strengthen, discussing international and regional issues, as well as peace and security challenges. He reaffirmed a shared commitment to a new dimension of cooperation, particularly in agriculture, food security, water, health, technology, innovation, security, training, and investment, aiming for a modern, pragmatic, mutually beneficial partnership measured by implemented results.
