Heatwave Expected on First Day of School in Israel
Israel is set to experience a noticeable increase in heat and humidity starting Tuesday, the first day of the school year. While the morning hours will be pleasant with a slight rise in temperatures, the heat is expected to intensify throughout the day.
Temperatures will be significantly higher than average for this time of year. Highs in Jerusalem are forecast to reach 31 degrees Celsius (88°F), while Tel Aviv and Haifa will see temperatures around 32°C (90°F). The Jordan Valley city of Beit She'an and the southern city of Eilat are expected to be the hottest, with temperatures reaching 39°C (102°F). Even higher elevations like Safed will experience highs of 30°C (86°F).
Overnight temperatures will also remain warm, with lows in Tel Aviv and Ashdod around 24°C (75°F) and Eilat at 28°C (82°F). The public is advised to take precautions against the heat, especially children and the elderly, as the increased humidity will exacerbate the feeling of heat stress.
