Education Minister Yoav Kisch Fails to File Wealth Declarations

Education Minister Yoav Kisch has not submitted a wealth declaration since the start of his term, despite his legal obligation and seven reminders from the State Comptroller's office. Kisch is the only minister completing a full term who has not filed, and one of only two ministers overall, alongside Ze'ev Elkin, to have failed to do so. This information was revealed by the Movement for Freedom of Information following a request to the State Comptroller's office.

Other ministers have also delayed or failed to submit their declarations. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir submitted his in January, while former Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer ignored six reminders and Minister Sharen Haskel also failed to comply despite four notices. The requirement for ministers to submit annual wealth declarations, detailing assets and liabilities, was established in 2003 to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure public trust. However, the State Comptroller's office lacks enforcement powers for non-compliance.

"What is the Education Minister hiding?" asked Adv. Hidi Negev, CEO of the Movement for Freedom of Information. He criticized the lack of transparency and accountability for ministers who disregard the legal requirement. A spokesperson for Minister Elkin stated that his delayed submission was due to his demanding role in rehabilitating the north and south following recent conflicts, and that he would complete and submit it in the coming months. No response was received from Minister Kisch's office.
