Divorce Dispute Escalates to Vandalism and Grenade Attack

A former couple's acrimonious divorce proceedings in Israel have culminated in a criminal indictment against three men, detailing a descent from threats to violent acts. The prosecution alleges that the woman's ex-husband, embroiled in a custody battle and divorce, threatened her and her father before orchestrating an attack on her car and home.

According to the indictment filed in Tel Aviv District Court, the ex-husband allegedly made escalating threats against the woman, including "I will dismantle your business and your Instagram and I will dismantle you." He also reportedly threatened her father, saying, "Don't worry, I'll make sure to take down your father too, this faggot, and our case will be Holon 2," referencing a fatal car bombing in June that killed Lía Malka Cohen.

The threats allegedly continued, with the ex-husband telling the woman, "Soon you won't be a mother." The prosecution claims these threats were not idle, as the ex-husband allegedly conspired with another man to damage the woman's vehicle and throw a stun grenade at her apartment building in Ramat Gan.

A third man was reportedly recruited to help carry out the plan. The indictment states that two of the accused met in Netanya, equipped themselves with a motorcycle, tools, and gloves, and drove to Ramat Gan. They vandalized the woman's car in a parking lot, causing tens of thousands of shekels in damage, including shattered windows and broken mirrors, estimated at around 80,000 shekels.

Minutes later, the pair allegedly returned and threw a stun grenade at the entrance to the building. The explosion caused a loud bang, flash, fire, and smoke. The two then fled, returning the motorcycle to its owner. The prosecution asserts that the ex-husband was aware of and approved of the vandalism and grenade attack. The three defendants face charges including weapons offenses and malicious damage to a vehicle, with the ex-husband also charged with two counts of making threats.
