Passenger Stops Bus After Driver Loses Consciousness

A passenger named Tomer Bazini is being hailed as a hero after he prevented a potential disaster by stopping a bus when the driver lost consciousness. The incident occurred over the weekend while Bazini was traveling with his family on Egged bus line 15 in Eilat. The bus was carrying about 10 additional teenage girls and many other passengers.

Bazini and his wife had moved to sit closer to the front of the bus shortly before the driver lost consciousness. The driver veered off the road, hitting a safety railing and continuing onto the sidewalk, shattering the bus doors and windows. Passengers began to panic as the bus continued to move with the driver slumped over the steering wheel and his foot on the gas pedal.

Seeing the danger, Bazini climbed through the narrow space between the driver's door and the windshield. Although he had no experience driving a bus, he managed to find and press the brake pedal, bringing the vehicle to a halt. He also attempted to rouse the driver.

Moments after the bus stopped, the driver regained consciousness, confused to find Bazini in the driver's seat. Bazini explained the situation and asked the driver to park the bus safely. He then checked on his children and the other passengers, expressing that his actions were instinctive, driven by the presence of his children and other vulnerable passengers on board.
