Israeli Broadcaster Ayela Hason Slams Campaign to Free Terrorist Marwan Barghouti

Israeli broadcaster Ayela Hason expressed shock and dismay on Sunday regarding a reported campaign by the left-wing to secure the release of convicted terrorist Marwan Barghouti. Speaking on Radio Galey Israel, Hason decried the effort as an attempt to distort reality, stating, "It is chilling to me how one can turn truth into lies and lies into truth." She detailed Barghouti's history as the head of the Tanzim, responsible for numerous deadly attacks across Israel that resulted in dozens of murders and left families bereaved. Hason noted that Barghouti was convicted in an Israeli court for five murders, receiving five life sentences plus 40 years, and emphasized that under current law, he would face 40 life sentences.

Hason further criticized the ongoing campaign for Barghouti's release, which she said began the moment he entered prison. She highlighted the narrative portraying him as a "Nelson Mandela" and a "freedom fighter," pointing out that numerous Knesset members have visited him. The campaign has recently gained momentum with endorsements from Hollywood actors and Israeli journalists, including a column by Raviv Drucker calling for Barghouti's release, whom Hason described as a "vile murderer with blood on his hands."

When asked about the possibility of Barghouti's release, Hason stated that currently, the chances are zero. However, she cautioned that political shifts, pressures, and potential government coalitions could make anything possible, "the sky is the limit."
