Hapoel Be'er Sheva Commemorates 19 Years Since Death of Zambian Striker Cheswa Inspawa

Hapoel Be'er Sheva marked the 19th anniversary of the tragic death of Cheswa Inspawa, a Zambian national team striker who played for the club at the start of the 2007-2008 season. Inspawa collapsed during a training match at Vasermil Stadium and passed away at the age of 28, shocking the club and its fans. He played only two official matches for Hapoel Be'er Sheva, scoring three goals.

A memorial corner was established at the stadium entrance in his honor until Vasermil was demolished. Several years later, Inspawa's wife and son visited Israel as guests of the club, arranged by the Vasermilia Association. During their visit, they received Inspawa's number 6 jersey displayed in a glass frame.

Nir Karin, Inspawa's former agent and current representative of Zambian player Kings Kangwa, told Sport 5 that the club still does not use the number 6 jersey, reflecting the respect and place Inspawa holds among fans and the club. Karin praised Hapoel Be'er Sheva's management, led by Alona Barkat, for bringing Inspawa's family to Israel to honor his memory. He also noted the involvement of Marco Balbul, who coached Inspawa and later served as assistant to Avraham Grant with the Zambian national team, describing it as a meaningful closure.

Karin emphasized the importance of preserving Inspawa's legacy for both the club and its supporters. He also mentioned that Kings Kangwa is expected to play in an upcoming Greek league match for Panathinaikos and will participate in the Conference League after the club secured qualification.
