Hamas Attempts to Arm Gaza with Advanced Drones Similar to Hezbollah's Northern Threat

Israeli security officials have recently detected efforts by Hamas to acquire advanced surveillance drones, similar to those used by Hezbollah along Israel's northern border. These sophisticated drones, which caused casualties and damage in the north, are reportedly being smuggled into the Gaza Strip via Egypt. The Israeli defense establishment views this development with concern, as Hamas gaining such capabilities would violate existing agreements governing the Gaza Strip.

In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is leading a national initiative aimed at making Israel the first country to effectively counter the drone threat. Israel is providing daily updates to the United States regarding Hamas's violations and smuggling attempts. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz held a situation assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and senior military officials, addressing the threat from Gaza.

Katz declared that the ultimatum issued after incendiary balloons and kites were launched from Gaza toward southern Israeli communities has expired. He warned that any further launches of balloons or kites from Gaza into southern settlements will be met with severe retaliation. This stance underscores Israel's determination to prevent Hamas from enhancing its military capabilities in Gaza.
