Elderly Haredi Man Critically Injured After Electric Scooter Crashes Into Trash Bin in Jerusalem

A Haredi man in his 70s suffered critical injuries after colliding with a trash bin while riding an electric scooter on HaMAG Street in Jerusalem. The accident occurred on Thursday evening when the rider lost control or fell, hitting the bin with great force and sustaining severe multi-system trauma. He immediately lost consciousness and collapsed on the sidewalk.

Passersby who witnessed the incident quickly called emergency services. Paramedics and medics from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom arrived promptly and performed prolonged advanced resuscitation efforts at the scene. The man was transported in critical condition to Shaare Zedek Medical Center while still undergoing CPR.

Dr. Yigal Shoshan, a volunteer physician with United Hatzalah, described the dramatic rescue efforts, noting the rider was found without pulse or breathing. Emergency responders Moses Berlin and Amir Loverbaum recounted providing life-saving treatment and emphasized the severity of the injuries. The exact cause of the crash and circumstances leading to the collision with the trash bin are under investigation.
