French police arrested a man in his 60s, an Irish citizen, in Avignon on suspicion of making severe anti-Semitic threats against a Jewish tourist couple from Australia. The incident occurred in mid-April at a local supermarket. According to Karen Eivers, who recorded the event, the conversation initially started amicably about a football shirt but escalated after she mentioned Ireland's anti-Israel stance and support for Hamas and Hezbollah. The suspect, who identified himself as Paddy, became aggressive, stating, "I’m sorry Hitler didn’t finish the job," and threatened to shoot the couple in the head. The video of the incident quickly went viral on the social media platform X, amassing around one million views after Karen urged users to expose the attacker. Due to the public outcry, the investigation has been transferred to the investigative units in Marseille and Avignon to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.
