Most of those detained, 67, are Israeli citizens with blue identity cards. The agency linked one case to five young men from Segev Shalom, arrested in May and June, whom it said planned to form a military-style cell inspired by Palestinian battalions in Judea and Samaria.

According to the reports, the alleged plans included shootings, stabbings and bombings at the Segev Shalom police station, the central bus station in Beersheba and a club in Beersheba. One suspect was said to have studied bomb-making, another was assigned as the group’s “engineer,” and a separate suspect, Abdallah Jarjoui, was arrested in July over an alleged plan to attack the Forum club and over support for ISIS and Hamas.

The Shin Bet and police said they thwarted the alleged plots. A senior Shin Bet official warned about cells of Israeli citizens operating in a semi-military format and posing a security risk.
