Widow of Slain Footballer Lior Assoulin Criticizes Sports World for Lack of Memorial

Moran Assulin stated that she had approached major football clubs, particularly Beitar Jerusalem, requesting a tribute ceremony. Lior Assulin, who left behind three children, played for several prominent Israeli clubs during his career, including Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and Hapoel Petah Tikva.

Recalling the events of October 7, Moran Assulin described the agonizing search for Lior after realizing he was in the south, eventually learning of his death from his sister on Sunday, October 8, 2023. She remembered him as a devoted father with a positive outlook and an eternal smile.

While hundreds of people attended a recent event marking Lior's birthday, Moran Assulin hopes that major clubs will still organize significant commemorative ceremonies. Former sports figures, including Eli Ohana, Moshe Primo, and Eyal Lachman, have shared positive memories of Assulin, with Ohana describing him as a fighter who was always there for his team.
