Palestinian Journalists Bloc Condemns Arrest of Alaa Rimawi

The Palestinian Journalists Bloc has strongly condemned the arrest of journalist Alaa Rimawi, following the storming of his home in Ramallah. The bloc considers the incident a call for relevant authorities to act in defense of journalists and protect their work.

The bloc stated that Rimawi's case is part of what it described as the pursuit and detention of journalists, urging that such issues be handled to ensure the protection and empowerment of male and female journalists to continue their work.

It called upon journalistic, human rights, and international institutions to assume their responsibilities towards journalists, working to stop their pursuit and arrest, citing ongoing measures against those in the media field. The bloc emphasized the necessity of these institutions taking action to protect journalists, asserting their responsibility includes monitoring the situations of detained and pursued journalists and working to guarantee their safety and rights.

The Palestinian Journalists Bloc demanded the immediate release of Alaa Rimawi, along with all other male and female journalists held in Israeli prisons. The bloc reiterated its call for journalistic, human rights, and international bodies to continue their efforts on this matter and work towards ending the pursuit of journalists and releasing those detained, according to their statement.
