Israeli Forces Raid Palestinian Journalist's Home in Jenin

Israeli forces raided the home of Palestinian journalist Ali Al-Samoudi, 59, in the West Bank city of Jenin on Saturday, demanding his family hand him over within an hour. Local sources reported that soldiers assaulted Al-Samoudi's son during the raid. Al-Samoudi was not present at the time, and it remains unclear if he will surrender to the Israeli military.

Al-Samoudi was previously held under administrative detention for a year and released on April 30. Upon his release, he appeared significantly thinner, attributing his weight loss to "starvation policies" in Israeli prisons, along with alleged torture, mistreatment, denial of basic rights, and frequent transfers between facilities.

Two other Palestinian journalists, Sabri Mousa Jibril and Muadh Amarneh, were arrested by Israeli forces last Thursday after their homes in the Bethlehem area were raided. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reported 84 violations against journalists in August alone, committed by Israeli forces and settlers, including the death of one journalist in prison and another injured by gunfire.

The syndicate's freedom committee stated that journalists have faced a "wide series" of abuses, including direct targeting of media crews, obstruction of their work, detention, arrest, and the seizure of equipment. The committee views these actions as a "systematic policy aimed at restricting journalistic freedom, preventing the reporting of truth, and documenting crimes and violations against the Palestinian people."
