Maccabi Tel Aviv is closely following the situation of striker Guy Melamed at Maccabi Haifa and is considering signing him if a deal becomes feasible. Melamed, who was the top scorer last season, currently holds a low position in Haifa's attacking hierarchy behind Andrej Novakovic and Silva Cani, and has even been benched in favor of younger players like Adam Greenberg in some Toto Cup matches. He missed the season opener due to a muscle sensitivity but has recently returned to training.

Sources within Maccabi Haifa believe it will be difficult to transfer Melamed to their major rival unless a replacement player arrives in a trade. No official negotiations or offers have been made yet, as the talks are still in very early stages. Maccabi Tel Aviv is seeking to strengthen its forward line following the sale of Said Abu Farhi, the departure of Younes Melda, and a thin attacking roster that currently includes new signing Astr Sukler and Elad Madmon, who has limited playing time.

Melamed, 33, joined Maccabi Haifa in January 2025 after scoring 17 goals in half a season with Hapoel Haifa. Despite his impressive scoring record, he has struggled to secure a consistent role at Maccabi Haifa and initially chose Haifa over an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Tel Aviv club is waiting for clarity on Melamed's future at Haifa before making any moves.
