Hapoel Jerusalem Pursues Permanent EuroLeague License with Strong Proposal

Hapoel Jerusalem basketball club is actively pursuing a permanent license to join the EuroLeague, contrary to recent reports questioning their status. Ahead of the EuroLeague shareholders meeting on August 25, the club submitted an initial framework proposal and is preparing to present a binding offer in the coming days. The EuroLeague management has indicated that if the proposal is submitted and positively received by the board, Jerusalem will advance to the next stage alongside other clubs that have also submitted binding offers.

Currently, Hapoel Jerusalem is undergoing a comprehensive due diligence process expected to last several weeks. The club aims to finalize its proposal before the EuroLeague board meeting next month, emphasizing financial stability and a strategic vision for the league's future. Owner Matan Adelson and club officials maintain close communication with EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu and other executives to coordinate the process.

Adelson stated, "Hapoel Jerusalem's goal is clear: to compete at the highest level of European basketball. We approach this process with full seriousness and commitment. In the coming weeks, we intend to present a very strong proposal both financially and strategically. We wholeheartedly believe in what Hapoel Jerusalem can contribute to the EuroLeague and are confident our final offer will convince the EuroLeague board to grant approval." The club stresses that despite recent speculation, the opportunity to secure a permanent EuroLeague franchise remains firmly on the table.
