Israeli President Herzog Reveals Shin Bet Now Involved in Search for Missing Haimnot Kasao

Israeli President Isaac Herzog met on Tuesday at the President's Residence with the family of Haimnot Kasao, who has been missing for about two and a half years. During the meeting, Herzog disclosed that he had spoken with Shin Bet chief David Zini, who confirmed that the Shin Bet has recently become involved in the investigation and search efforts following a request from the Israel Police.

Herzog emphasized the national concern for Haimnot, stating, "She is a daughter of all the people of Israel, and all of Israel cares deeply for her." He assured that locating her remains a top priority for law enforcement agencies, praising the cooperation between the police and Shin Bet.

Haimnot's father, Tsafai Kasao, expressed the family's fears of possible discrimination due to language barriers or skin color and urged for rapid Shin Bet intervention. Her sister, Yaros Kasao, described the emotional toll on the family, highlighting that Haimnot disappeared during wartime and that Shin Bet's involvement could bring an end to their suffering.

Family representative Tsafai Bishao thanked President Herzog and the Israeli public for their ongoing support and expressed hope that they will soon celebrate Haimnot's Bat Mitzvah at home in Jerusalem. The family remains optimistic that Haimnot is alive and will return home safely.
