Former Israeli Budget Director Yoav Gardos Joins Shapir Engineering as Senior Executive

Yoav Gardos, the former director of budgets at the Israeli Ministry of Finance, will join Shapir Engineering next week as a senior board member and head of the finance and business development division. Gardos, 43, served for about five years as the budget director until a year ago, marking his first senior role in the private sector. Shapir Engineering announced that Gardos brings extensive managerial experience from key public sector roles, alongside broad macroeconomic insight and comprehensive economic understanding, which will support the company's growth planning and management.

Gardos spent approximately 15 years at the Budget Department under three finance ministers, navigating periods of economic challenges. During his tenure under Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Gardos and the minister had several disputes, including exchanges of letters where Gardos criticized the minister's policies and Smotrich insisted on adherence to his directives. After Gardos's departure, the Budget Department remained without a director for about six months due to repeated rejections of candidate Mahran Prozner, not because of his qualifications but due to the finance minister's prior refusal to appoint a woman to a senior role. Only after Michal Abadi-Boiangiu was appointed general accountant in January did the Civil Service Commission approve Prozner's appointment as Gardos's successor.

Shapir Engineering is a publicly traded company on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and part of the TA-35 index. It specializes in producing and supplying construction raw materials, infrastructure, franchising, and residential construction development. The company is also competing in the tender for Israel's largest infrastructure project, the metro construction.
