Hapoel Ramat Gan concluded their Toto Cup campaign on Monday with a narrow 5-4 penalty shootout loss to Beitar Jerusalem after a 3-3 draw in stoppage time. Despite the defeat, the team, coached by Massai Dago, showed strong attacking play and a promising preparation ahead of their league opener against Maccabi Haifa at Sammy Ofer Stadium on Saturday.

A significant setback for Ramat Gan is the suspension of Portuguese defender Jota, who received a red card deep into stoppage time and will miss the upcoming match. Jota had been performing well and serves as the team captain. Brazilian defender Marcio Silva, who recently signed, was not included in the squad but is expected to be integrated before the Maccabi Haifa game. Serbian midfielder Sergen Mihajlovic made his debut and scored, while Marius Nuavisi also came close to scoring in his first appearance.

The club criticized the refereeing, particularly questioning the value of officials without VAR, following a goal by Anasa. Meanwhile, Hapoel Ramat Gan is looking to strengthen their squad by signing an experienced goalkeeper. Reports indicate that the newly promoted club is interested in acquiring Ido Sharon, a goalkeeper who grew up at Hapoel Tel Aviv and currently belongs to Ironi Tiberias. The club is determined to secure his transfer ahead of the new season.
